Service Description
Course Overview This one-day course develops participants’ understanding of loads and forces within climbing systems, with direct application to personal climbing, instructional practice, and professional rigging. Drawing on established approaches from mountain rescue, rope access, and Rescue 3 technical training, the course explores how forces are generated, transferred, and managed through anchors, belays, protection, and rope systems. A key element of the day is the use of load cells and live measurement, allowing participants to observe real forces in common climbing scenarios and compare these to assumptions, textbook models, and best practice guidance. The focus throughout is on practical decision-making, appropriate system design, and risk reduction in real terrain. Target Audience This course is suitable for: Experienced climbers and mountaineers Climbing and mountaineering instructors Aspirant MCI / higher award candidates Outdoor professionals operating in steep ground environments Rescue practitioners seeking climbing-specific application Participants should be confident with basic anchors and belay systems.

Cancellation Policy
Bookings and Payment: A completed booking form and deposit (or full payment if within 14 days of the activity) are required to confirm a booking. The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 14 days before the activity date unless otherwise agreed in writing. Group bookings must be made by a responsible adult aged 18 or over. Cancellations by the Participant: If you cancel your booking: • More than 28 days before the activity – full refund minus a £20 administration fee. • 14- 28 days before – 50% refund. • Less than 14 days before – no refund. We may, at our discretion, allow bookings to be transferred or rescheduled. Participants are advised to arrange suitable personal insurance. Weather, Conditions and Changes by GO Vertical: All activities are subject to weather, environmental and water conditions. If conditions are deemed unsafe in the professional judgement of GO Vertical instructors, GO Vertical will offer a suitable alternative activity or location on the same date where possible. If no suitable alternative is available, the booking will be transferred to another date at no additional cost. Refunds will only be offered if no alternative or rescheduled date can be provided. Decisions regarding safety, activity choice and location are final.
